Historic Preservation Overlays (HPOs) assist in implementing the goals, objectives,
and policies in the Comprehensive Plan pertaining to the protection, preservation,
and appropriate use of historic resources in the unincorporated county, including
historic structures and buildings identified in the county historic resource data
base referenced in chapter 146 of this Code.
The intent of an HPO is to protect and preserve the county's historic resources through
an overlay whereby land use controls in addition to those of the underlying zoning
districts may be applied.
