§ 138-3294. Hospital.
(a)
Purpose. Establishments providing medical, diagnostic, and treatment services including physician, nursing, specialized accommodations, and other health services to in-patients.
(b)
Applicability. The provisions of this section shall apply to new and expansions of hospitals.
(c)
Standards.
(1)
New or expansions to hospitals are prohibited within the coastal storm area, the area inundated by a category 2 hurricane, or a floodway. This restriction does not preclude substantial improvements or the replacement of an existing facility as long as its use as a hospital has not been abandoned, and the improvements or replacement do not result in additional beds.
(2)
Hospitals may provide outpatient services, clinics, medical offices and other ancillary uses.
