If the legislature of the State of Florida, in this session, or in any subsequent
session, amends the law to authorize an additional discretionary sales tax, then the
county commission shall have the option, at its discretion, of directing that all
or some portion of the revenues collected from said sales tax shall be used to fund
the emergency medical services system in lieu of the ad valorem property tax. If the
legislature amends the law, and the county commission directs the use of the sales
tax, the ballot in section 54-31 shall be revised accordingly.
